Hobbies
As someone who benefited greatly from the help of tutors in my teen years, I relish the opportunity to help students reach their academic goals. What I love about tutoring is the one-on-one setting; it gives me the chance to get to know the student's learning style and tailor our meetings to it. No matter the subject we're working on, I encourage students' critical thinking skills, helping them to develop the habits of mind that will serve them well long after our time together ends. Currently, I am a PhD student in Sociology, so most of the time you can find me with my nose buried in a thick book on social theory. When I manage to tear myself away from such exciting pursuits, I enjoy listening to music and attending concerts, visiting museums, scuba diving, and traveling. When I look back, the best teachers I had were the ones who were able to connect course material to my interests, and I strive to do that when I work with students now. Whether you require ongoing tutoring, or just need to meet a few times to prepare for a specific project/exam, I am happy to help.
